Only 7 percent of consumers were affected by the new tariffs for February
About 93 percent of customers based on the analysis made by KESCO for the February bills have paid only with the old tariffs. So, they are not affected at all by the new electricity tariffs.
This happened after KESCO with the approval of ERO, in the bills of February, on February 9 started the metering from 0kWh and this has made that 93% of customers are not affected by the new prices, because customers do not have exceeded 800kWh, which is calculated with the old tariffs, before February 9.
But, the period has already begun when the new tariffs are in force, with new prices. It is already known that for all household customers the block tariff starts from spending over 800kWh.
In these circumstances, we ask consumers to be extremely careful in controlling energy use, as spending over this amount, the tariffs are significantly higher.
Regarding the application of new tariffs and to help consumers not to cross the block tariff threshold, KESCO will also launch an awareness campaign starting this month.
Electricity prices have increased significantly as a result of their increase in international stock exchanges, where at the end of the year it was up to ten times higher, compared to the same period of previous years.
Kosovo could not escape from these either, as it is an importing country, where a considerable amount of electricity must be provided by imports during the winter period when the demand and consequently the price are the highest in Europe.
Efficient use of electricity and alternative forms of heating reduces dependence on imports and consequently the impact of its global prices on us.
