Clarification from KESCO on the statement of the Ferronikel Union: The supply of Ferronikel is done in accordance with the contract
KESCO clarifies that Ferronikeli is an unregulated customer since year 2017. So, this customer has the right to choose the supplier from whom he can buy the electricity he consumes. The decision to supply with unregulated tariffs in an open market was taken by the country's institutions as a continuation of energy market liberalization.
For clarification purposes, the purchase of electricity from KEK is a first priority for customers regulated, in accordance with the instructions issued by ERO. Given that KEK production is not sufficient to cover the needs of regulated customers, electricity for Ferronikel was purchased from imports, in accordance with the contract agreed between the parties.
Since import prices are currently very high, the company is directly affected by these prices which have hit almost all of Europe. Therefore, we can say with complete certainty that KESCO is respecting the contract it has with Ferronikel, and the accusation against KESCO is unfounded.
