Electricity consumption is rising—save it as much as possible!
In recent days, the weather has cooled in Kosovo, resulting in an immediate increase in demand for electricity, primarily for heating purposes.
The first days of November show an increase in demand of about 18 percent compared to the same period last year. Although we have not yet entered winter, demand has already risen to over 1,100 megawatt-hours at peak times.
Consumers should keep in mind that Kosovo has tariffs designed to encourage electricity saving. The less they use, the less they pay, not only in terms of quantity but also in price.
Consumption is divided into two main tariff blocks: up to 800 kWh and over 800 kWh. Prices are significantly higher for usage over 800 kWh. Therefore, consumers should consider this and save electricity whenever possible.
Avoiding electric heating is highly recommended in living spaces where alternatives are available.
Where electric heating is necessary, energy-saving methods include using efficient appliances and heating spaces efficiently, avoiding excessively high temperatures.
During the recent energy crisis, many European countries limited indoor temperatures to 19 degrees Celsius during the winter. This temperature is sufficient to keep people warm and comfortable. Additionally, it’s recommended to heat only the spaces in use and avoid heating unoccupied areas.
Insulating living spaces is another important step that reduces electricity use for heating.
In the coming weeks, KESCO will launch a campaign to raise awareness about saving electricity and using it efficiently, titled "Up to 800!" This campaign will offer many tips and information on electricity conservation. Stay at 800!
