Consumers are updating their details in KESCO
It’s important to update your information as a consumer if:
- Your meter is not registered in your name;
- You have changed your place of residence;
- You have tenants;
- Your phone number is incorrect;
- You bought or sold the house.
Failing to update your details can leave you uninformed and at a disadvantage.
Updating supplier data is a legal obligation for every consumer. Often, consumers face issues or lack of information because they haven’t updated their details on time with the supplier, in this case, KESCO. For example, you might not receive your bill if you haven’t updated your address, or miss important notifications if your phone number isn’t correct.
Why is it important to update your details as a consumer?
1. Legal obligation
Updating data is a legal obligation, which must be fulfilled. According to secondary law, if the consumers do not sign a contract within 15 days from the date of notification, they may be disconnected from the electricity network.
2. Receive your energy bill at your residence
If you haven’t received your electricity bill, it may be because your address isn’t updated. Ensure your information is current to receive your bill on time. Therefore, it is extremely important that you update your data.
3. Get timely information
This may not happen if you haven't updated your phone number. It probably happened to you that after you changed your phone number, you did not receive information from KESCO on various issues. To receive this information you must always update your phone number.
4. Take advantage of a subsidy scheme
If you have applied for energy-related subsidies but it has not been processed further, it might be due to outdated information. Therefore, update your details to avoid missing out on these opportunities.
5. Submission of requests or complaints
You can do none of these options if you haven't updated your data. In this way, even our officials in our centers all over Kosovo won’t be able to process them. Make it easy to communicate with you and complete the data update process.
6. No one can leave you in debt
In cases of leasing, tenants might leave debts with KESCO if the meter isn’t registered in their name. Updating the meter to the tenant’s name doesn’t change property ownership but ensures accountability. If the data isn’t updated, the property owner remains liable for any accumulated debt. This can be changed at the end of your contract with the tenant. If the update is not done and you have accumulated debt, the owner of the apartment, who is also the owner of the electricity meter, can be pursued by the bailiff.
Therefore, to ensure that you will receive the best service from KESCO, you must update your data. This process is straightforward, requires minimal documentation, and takes little time. It is a simplified and categorized process for everyone, based on your specific needs.
Updating your data is not only useful; it is also a legal requirement. Stay tuned for more information in the coming days.
