Unit B2 tripped off- most of the country is without electricity
KESCO has been informed by KEK that in the early morning hours the unit B2 of the Kosovo B power plant in the unplanned manner has tripped off from the system. Tripp off of this unit has created an immediate shortage of over 250 megawatt hours of electricity, which has greatly hampered the supply of electricity.
In this situation, KOSTT has ordered KESCO to start with power outages. Consequently, a large part of the country will be left without electricity. As it is about the unplanned outages of about 30 percent of production, for additional information of the created situation, we will inform costumers for the situation with the information we will take from KOSTT and KEK. KESCO, as foreseen by the rules and obligations, is doing its utmost to provide sufficient electricity for the following day, from the import.
But this is not easy at all, given the recent frost, which has dramatically increased the demand for electricity in the region.
